History of the Business

It all started when I walked into a surplus store that had a few of these bracelets for sale.  I tried one on and realized it was not the size or color that I really wanted.  I thought about being able to make these myself and to provide individualized sizing and many other options, such as color combinations, braid types and different styles.  I researched and worked on everything from building a website to producing several types of products.  From there it has developed into a small business, as we continue to add colors, weave patterns and additional products each month.  It has been a learning process in making these products and setting up all facets of the business.  A special thank you also goes out to Lee Staak, Owner of Coralville Hardee's.  He operates one of the most successful Hardee's Franchisee restaurants in the Country and has helped in getting us started!!

How to Use in Case of an Emergency and some of the many uses of paracord (parachute cord)  Experts say there are three main things you need to survive in an emergency.  You need a cutting tool, fire starting device and nylon string.    All you need to do to turn your bracelet into several feet of paracord is undo the end of the bracelet where it was melted to secure the end to finish the bracelet, then just unravel the bracelet.  Each bracelet contains 7-10 feet of 550lb. test military grade paracord (each inner strand - 7 strands, are approx. 80lb. test).

There are literally thousands of potential uses of parachute cord, but here are a few ideas from others that have used this survival device.

Building, tool repair, gear repair, snares & traps, securing items and gear either to yourself, or your backpack, clothes lines, hanging food up out of reach of animals.  The inner strands can be used as makeshift fishing line, sewing repair or dental floss.  Other uses are a tourniquet, making a fire bow for starting a fire or will ignite to start a fire, repairing a car fan belt, making or repairing a tent/shelter or pole support, replacing a broken shoe lace (they make excellent shoe and boot laces), towing a boat, throw line (braiding for even more combined strength), emergency dog collar or leash to secure an animal, tarp tie down/tie down for vehicle, lanyards, measuring device, emergency stitches (boil first) ....and the list goes on and on.

As you can see, these can truly become "Bracelets with a Purpose"!   We hope you enjoy your Paracord product!!
